NZQA Unit Standard 3801- Prepare and sling complex loads for crane operations - Level 4, 25 Credits

Before booking Unit 3801, ALL learners must first hold the Pre-requisites - Unit Standard 3789 - Sling varied regular loads and safely direct crane operations - If unsure, contact the office for help or email info@actsafety.co.nz before booking.

This course is industry best practice and designed for people with experience in the rigging of complex or irregular loads in crane operation environments. 

Key Learning Objectives:

• Describe the purpose and use of types of lifting equipment.
• Select lifting equipment and apply sling and lifting gear to the load.
• Select and apply packing and dunnage to crane lift situations.
• Prepare and sling complex loads.
• Identify factors affecting the safe operation of the crane.

Pre-Requisites

• Minimum 28 working days of practice on slinging complex or irregular loads
• Must hold unit standard 3789
• 6 months' experience as a Dogman is advisable.
• Assessment must be carried out using either a slewing crane with a 10-tonne minimum capacity;
• Or a tower crane or self-erecting tower crane with a 4-tonne minimum capacity.
