NZQA Unit Standard 3800 - Use a radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane to lift and place regular loads (Level 3, 10 Credits)

Gain the skills needed to operate a radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane and knowledge of the crane industry as a whole

This course will develop your overall knowledge and understanding of gantry crane operations and test your skills for carrying out daily checks, servicing and operating gantry cranes, whilst also learning about new developments relating to the crane industry and regulations.

The Crane Industry recognized there was a gap in knowledge around basic slinging so introduced Unit Standard 30072 as a prerequisite covered on our Sling Regular Loads Safely Course to support more specialized training in Overhead Gantry Crane, Truck Loader Crane and Rigging and Slinging.  This training covers, pre-start checks, Isolation and lock out procedures, Inspect lifting equipment prior to use.  Includes but not limited to chains, web slings, wire rope and spreader bars, lift and place regular loads, the correct Use of cranes, stow crane after use and stow lifting equipment after use.

Key Learning Objectives:

• Demonstrate knowledge of using a radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane.
• Demonstrate knowledge of radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane components, equipment, and attachments.
• Sling, lift, travel, and unload or place regular loads using a radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane.
• Park radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane and store equipment.
• Carry out daily and weekly operator maintenance of a radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane.
