This course is designed to help you to demonstrate a solid understanding of mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) and the legislative requirements for their use in the work environment. In this course, learners will be able to obtain a solid understanding of how they can identify hazards and safe use of a mobile elevated work platform (MEWP) including scissor lifts and self-propelled boom lifts.
"All Equipment" 16-Hour course would include:
Day 1:
- Unit Standard 23966 - Mobile Elevated Work Platform (Theory)
- Unit Standard 23960 - Scissor Lift (Practical)
- Unit Standard 23962 - Boom Lift (Practical)
Day 2:
- Unit Standard 23961 - Truck-Mounted (Practical)
- Unit Standard 23963 - Trailer-mounted (Practical)
- Unit Standard 23964 - Vertical Lift (Practical)
Key learning outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge of types of EWPs, their suitability for purpose, and safety features (range: scissor lift, truck mounted, self-propelled boom lift, trailer mounted, vertical lift).
- Demonstrate knowledge of legislative requirements about Code of Practice and using EWPs.
- Assess the work-site, and prepare to use a scissor lift EWP.
- Carry out operations in a workplace environment.
- Report faults and damage.
- Shut down the scissor lift EWP.
- Assess the work site, and prepare to use a self-propelled boom lift EWP.
- Carry out operations in a workplace environment, report faults, and shut down the self-propelled boom lift EWP.
