Learning Objectives:

  • Different types of plans used at an extractive site are described.
  • The components of a site plan are described.
  • The scaling of the plan is described in terms of accuracy and application.
  • Symbols and terminology are interpreted when reading a site plan in accordance with the site plan key and industry good practice.
  • Between two points, bearing, distance, and grade is determined using the site plan.
  • Co-ordinates from a site plan are determined to a fixed position.
  • Symbols are interpreted in relation to physical features and locations at the site.
  • Symbols and diagrams relating to geological and geotechnical features on the site plan are interpreted in relation to the conditions met or to be met at a site
